In my work as a researcher and journalist, photography and visual productions have occupied a special place.
First in my country of origin, Costa Rica, and since 1996 in the Netherlands, I have had the opportunity to document a long series of natural, social and political events that have profoundly marked the development of the latter two decades worldwide.
Some of these events have been the digital carbon footprint or digital pollution (worldwide), the kill of women in Ciudad Juárez (Mexico), the Venezuela of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro, the 35th anniversary of the Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua, hurricane Mitch in Central America, the overthrow of President Manuel Zelaya in Honduras, among others.
In 2014 I had the opportunity to be selected to follow a series of Visual Storytelling workshops taught by the prestigious NOOR photography academy. The workshops were held in Hilversum, the Netherlands.
I combine photography with my work at Naturallydigital.org, doing consulting, coaching and research in human online behavior and digital wellness.
In 2021, I published my book "Depredadores Digitales" (Editorial Círculo Rojo), a long-term investigation on digital pollution.
Part of this investigation is "the blue light project", where I explore our relationship and interaction with digital technologies.
